There are really only three ways to learn how to write well:
1) Learn from a teacher or mentor. There are good classes and good tutors out there.
2) Model your writing style on someone who seems to communicate well. This can lead you astray if there are weak points to your role-model's methods.
3) Teach yourself from a book--I still keep a copy of my high school grammar and style book for when I need to write something.
I personally mentor people on style because, as an editor, I excel at catching various forms of weak writing, grammar and punctuation errors, and the like; I even understand how semicolons are used.
