restrictions on posts to streams?? in Miscellaneous #Leadership

Reply by Gery 2 hours ago

That is correct. If you're an SFI affiliate, we need to be able to get our news and announcements through to you. If you're not open to receiving our communications, you should opt out completely of SFI. It's the exact same thing with our emailed newsletters. Are you an SFI affiliate or not? Blocking our communications suggests you are NOT.

SFI and TC badges quest benefits! in Miscellaneous

Reply by Gery 22 hours ago

Remember, MANY badges are not permanent. You have to keep earning them/qualifying for them. If you don't, they of course go away. Remember, it's a competition (contest).

Note: This thread made me realize that we can identify persons arriving for the first time at the forum and direct them to the Rules & Tips page via a special alert. Expect us to have that in place soon. Hence, you may not necessarily need to change your letter.

Glad to hear, Doug, that it's been at least mostly resolved. Don't forget that you have an entire upline with various Team Leaders too to lean on. See: www.sfimg.com/MyAccount/upline . I encourage you to reach out to all of them! Meanwhile, our forum here is like having hundreds of great sponsors (including myself) to assist you 24 hours a day with almost anything you need. Have a great weekend!

If Tim's suggestion doesn't help, you'll definitely need to follow up with Support (with a ticket). Rest assured, if you were a Team Leader last month, you'll get 'em!

I'm not sure what you're suggesting. We provide all kinds of ways to jump into the best, newest threads on the Alerts Tab (the first page everyone sees when they log in). And if someone wants to get to the forum any other time, it listed #1 under the Hot Spots menu. Finally, we have an entire tab devoted to the Forum (the Forum Tab), that features posts by your upline, downline, members from your country, and more. If new members are interested in collecting free daily VersaPoints, surely they visit this tab, right?

Hi Doug,

I've never heard of anyone using Stream in this way. It's VERY bad business. First, report them (name, etc. in a support ticket) so we can stop this bad behavior. Secondly, you can block them if you wish.

We monitor many, many things, at great time/expense, but Stream to my knowledge has virtually never been "abused," so we'd prefer not to hold up everyone's post for approvals for the .000001% that might be foolish enough to post non-business related messages.

Now go submit that report!

Better check your Genealogy again. If you were a Team Leader in October, you would have received a share of the CSAs.

From the 24-hour Knowledge Base at support.sfimg.com...

Why doesn't SFI charge a fee to join or have a sign-up kit you have to buy to join?

Since our launch in 1998 we've been free to join and we don't plan to ever change that. Here's why:

1. It would be unlawful for us to pay commissions on sign-up fees. And while a sign-up KIT makes some sense, it would have to be sold at our cost (it's unlawful to profit on the sale or pay any commissions on a sign-up kit). And since the majority of our affiliates come from outside of the United States, the postage cost would be very high and the delivery time far too long. We believe it is much smarter to have a the equivalent of a starter kit in DIGITAL form--that new affiliates can access IMMEDIATELY upon signing up, and provide this FREE. And this is what we do.

2. Some say charging a fee to join would improve the quality of sign-ups. There's no doubt it would. But it would also mean that, every year, tens of thousands of affiliates with outstanding potential would pass on SFI. We don't believe that knocking all these people out upfront serves anyone well in the long run. We have a TREMENDOUS program. We want as many people as possible to see this. How better than to let anyone who's interested in learning about SFI, to fully access SFI by letting them sign up for free? Let them kick the tires. Let them take SFI for a test drive. That's how car dealers sell cars. That's how we show people how great SFI is.

3. "But it clutters up my Genealogy!" some say. Other say it wastes their time "badgering" new affiliates who don't do anything. First of all, there's no need to badger anyone, and if you can't stand seeing inactive people in your Genealogy, just choose to view the condensed version (link located top center at your Genealogy), which omits all who haven't logged in in the last 90 days. But ignore all these supposedly inactive people at your own peril! Some of our biggest, highest-earning affiliates took MONTHS before deciding to become active with SFI. What convinced them? For many, it was upline members who continued to send them weekly SFI newsletters, etc. And remember that when you're using tools like the PSA Mailer, CSA Mailer, or Genealogy Group Mailer, it takes just as much effort to send a newsletter to one person as it does to a thousand. So send your newsletter to ALL of your group--yes, even those "horrible" inactive people. But don't be surprised when some percentage of those formerly inactive people suddenly come to life because of that constant and regular flow of communication you initiated! Failure is the path of least persistence! Don't give up on people just because their timing may be different than yours. Be persistent. That's how you win in life and it's how you win in SFI too.

And, of course, SFI has been refining for more than a decade its follow-up system for new affiliates. In other words, even if you don't do anything with the people that are signing up under you, SFI's powerful system continues to communicate with your new affiliates through a variety of newsletters and other emails. Do you REALLY not want to let this powerful and proven system go to work for you--just because your Genealogy has a few extra names in it?

We advertise for S-Builder Co-op, with the signups going to our co-op participants of course but, NO, we do not compete against our own affiliates, as that would be a giant conflict of interests!

Commission in Suggestion Box #Compensation #TCredits

Reply by Gery 2 days ago

Hi Rachael,

1. Of course we have instant commissions. If you make a retail sale, for example, you'll instantly earn 52% of the CV. This doesn't even require you to be an Executive Affiliate. Anyone can join SFI today and immediately start earning commissions.

2. Please refer to our compensation plan. Nowhere do we imply you earn money just for being an Executive Affiliate. You make money when sales are generated. These can be in your SFI downline or they can be retail sales (from PRMs), but there has to be sales for there to be commissions that can be paid out of course. When you made purchases, you created commissions for 12 of your upline members. When you start building YOUR team, you'll earn commissions from them in the same way. And if you'll use the Earnings Calculator found on your Scoreboard tab, you'll see that these amounts can become amazingly big over time...but you've got to plant the seeds first, and then carefully tend to your garden for a season or two or three...before you're going to see a harvest (i.e. commissions).

Tip: Our "Path" page ( www.sfimg.com/path) provides a super-simple guide for getting started making money with SFI.

Questions are the Answers ! in Miscellaneous #Getting Started

Reply by Gery 2 days ago

Hi Anna,

We'd love to do something like this, but it's VERY tricky. For starters, who really deserves a seat at the table (access to this special private area)? Some of our oldest and highest ranking affiliates are some of the quickest to LOUDLY condemn us for anything they perceive as "wrong" or "unfair." And once you start leaving people out, everyone starts screaming "favoritism!" and making all kind of accusations about unfairness, etc.

Okay, so if someone gets out of line, you take away the privilege, right? But the damage may already be done and now you've got someone who's REALLY upset and wants to tear us down...which hurts everyone.

And if we say that in this space you can say anything, I shudder to think about where it would go, how much harm could be done to those in attendance...who probably are our most important, most active affiliates!

Bottom line: If someone wanted to propose a detailed set of rules, how the process would work, who and what would be allowed, who and what would be prohibited, etc....we are certainly open to trying it...I just don't have a lot of confidence that it can ever work longterm because over the years I've been betrayed many times and shocked many more times by people who you would have thought could be trusted to be reasonable, but turned out to be more than willing to tear down SFI if given a chance just to show everyone how smart they are.

A pandora's box for sure!

P.S. We already have a private forum for Team Leaders (see the index) where we give more leeway.

No, and I take offense to your insinuation. We simply expect affiliates on our forum to act like professionals and be civil, constructive And this is all spelled out in Forum Policy & Rules, which you are of course expected to abide by if you want to have the privilege of expressing yourself on our company forum (which everyone worldwide can freely view, by the way).

I have a solemn responsibility to protect the businesses of all our affiliates and I will not apologize for taking that responsibility seriously and removing toxic posts that would harm our community. You are welcome to question our decisions, our strategies, our direction all you want...and I'll often personally respond and discuss with you, you just need to keep it CIVIL, which is simple and easy to do.

The world is often heartless and dark. I don't think we're asking for much to keep our little piece of the internet a friendly and nice place for our community.

P.S. My name is Gery.

We already have this function at the Forum. Just click the BY GC tab. Also, that section you're highlighting is for Stream posts, not Forum posts. If we were to add a link to my Forum posts, we'd want to add it to the middle column's content.

UPDATE: We've added a link to my forum posts to the list of latest Forum posts located on the Alerts Tab. Also, I've clarified with the programmers that my personal Stream posts automatically appear with the Corporate Stream posts (if you click on the "More Corporate Posts" link at the bottom of the new "Latest Corporate Stream Posts" list added to the Alerts Tab earlier today. So, you're just a click away from the Alerts Tab to all my Stream and Forum posts now!
