How do you motivate your downline to spend money monthly to maintain EA status without sounding greedy?

Be honest! Big difference. Everyone should be told & hopefully understands that this is a business that WILL require your time & effort AND a little bit of investment money.
While it IS free to join SFI & TC's, and you CAN get a lot of points and go up levels and make money without any money. BUT, it will take much longer and you won't make as much.
Any business upstart has well, upstart costs! Capital! And most new business' are told to expect to be in the red or at the very least barely breaking even for the first 2 years of business.
This being the type of business it is and SFI/TC being so good at what they do, their curve to profit is not as steep. With just a little extra money, you would spend elsewhere, whether buying your things from TC instead of some other store or spending $22 on an Sbuilder Co Op rather than something else that doesn't re pay you at all, this gives you your money back and it's FUN.
With SFI if they spend money everybody including themselves make money. Everyone is scratching everyone else's back.

Is there such a thing as helping your affiliates TOO much?

YES!
There needs to be a balance in effort. If your CSA/PSA's are not motivated to log in and participate daily on their TO-DO list and make efforts to grow their business; then I think after a certain amount of time and effort generated by you, you should let them know of your intention to lessen support and then let em go. Otherwise, you will be losing time you could have spent nurturing the others that REALLY do need your help.
What are the best methods of generating SFI signups from Pay Per Click (PPC) advertisements?

Put them out there in as many places as you can. Getting sign ups no matter how the method, is a numbers game. The more your advertising is seen by real, live, people...the better odds you have overall, of signups. Of those signups, only a few will really pan out and make you any money. So go out there and spread the word in any way you can. Look around at ways other companies advertise and follow suit, careful not to infringe upon their exact ideas.
Be honest as you can be in all ads, give out some interesting information about SFI & TC, but don't divulge too much right away, as to keep a little mystery until interest is shown.

How do I explain to prospects what my relationship is with SFI and TripleClicks?

Your relationship is an Affiliate to SFI and TC. We, as affiliates, share in SFI/TC's profits basically. SFI is the marketing side and TC is the store side of the company. We are not actual employees of Carson Services which is the parent company of SFI and TC's, but we are independent contractors of a sort, because we are responsible for paying taxes if/when we make enough income with our SFI/TC business and we don't clock in and cannot be fired by SFI/TC's. This is an, 'at will', partnership or 'affiliation' between you (or I, or whomever the affiliate is) and SFI/TC's.

How can I promote my ECA store's products to my downline so they'll want to sell them and/or buy them?

Send your downline a Sales Newsletter or a Spotlight item flyer, daily or weekly, however you feel best. Offer your downline special discounts or something that no one else gets but them. If you are unable to send pics of your items via SFI mail, if it's okay with SFI maybe you could send your Sales newsletter to the actual email address' of your downline so that the pics of your products can be shown. This is something I would check with my upline about.
What do you need to do to make sure your CSAs and PSAs are receiving your email messages?

Ask them! We know that unless they aren't looking for the messages, likely-hood of them physically receiving them are very high. Are they willing to do anything about the content of the email, is a better question. Ask for feedback or suggestions from your CSA/PSA's as to what would be most helpful and catch their interest the most. Also use SFI and their mail system regularly. You know its getting to the person, because SFI has great mail software.
Use contests to help improve response from your downline as well.
Some people are going to be ready to jump into SFI and respond right away; others not so much. Spend your time on the latter. Best wishes in your SFI endeavor.

What's the biggest turn-off that I should avoid talking about to prospects for SFI?

Affiliate marketing wouldn't be the first phrase I would use. If you explain the benefits to them first and how fun it really is AND it makes you money too? fughetuhboutit!! lol It should be an easy sale. I know for me, once I started explaining how reasonable everything was to buy and do, they were on board for sure.
How to explain to new affiliates the value of becoming a Fast-Track member?

That's fairly straightforward. Becoming a fast track member is a great investment for a 20 dollar bill. You get benefits from being a Fast Track member both immediate (like free VP and sweeps entries for a month!) and long term (like making more money for the lifetime of you being with SFI/TC's)
Tangible items too (like a great certificate of recognition AND your name permanently on the wall of fame.
It REALLY is worth it.
When starting out in SFI, is it better to invest in advertising or in an EA-qualifying purchase?

I would say invest in an EA qualifying purchase and find free ways to advertise. With the advent of social media and free bulletin boards, classifieds, and lists of all kinds online...there is no reason your advertising budget can't be near zero in the beginning.
HOWEVER<
you DO need to make EA each and every month. Why?
Because making at least EA gets you the very minimum buy in and profit for your business. Getting to EA is something that helps your upline make money on you and will help you make money on your downline affiliates. While you can do all you can do make higher levels, you NEED a active downline to really make money.
So any advertising should be to get people on your team that are going to do the things needed to make them and you money.
So DO BOTH!

How do you identify in your affiliates the skills that could help them become stars in SFI?

VersaPoints! If they are logging in on a regular basis and doing the to do list and other things to generate VP's, that is when and how you know they could be a star. So really you cannot know ahead of time who will be a star downline and who will go inactive on sign up.
Ive had Way more of the inactive downline as we all do. So its a numbers game....you are going to have to get a lot of downline just to come up with the 5 very active PSA's it takes to make real money with SFI.
If an Affiliate is not logging in, responding to emails, etc..you can bet he/she is not going to go very far in SFI.
Trying to look at their profile and guess if they will do well, is a crap shoot. People surprise you everyday. So just check your Geneology daily for Movers and encourage, encourage.
