How can I find affiliates who are truly interested in SFI and who will remain active?

The key to finding quality affiliates lies within the tracking and improvements made based on tracking. With free advertising, there are a lot of people looking for something for nothing. No all but most want something free. Business is not and you will not be able to build a lasting business without a small consistent investment of cash. If you are going to use free methods of recruiting be sure to have your own domain whereby you can control the content and the quality of the SEO. Good content plus good SEO yields a good converting landing page. Be very careful of your theme.
In addition when using paid advertising, content and SEO is very important. Also, key words and keyword density. Be sure that every aspect of your ad coincides. Your theme should be consistent. Be sure to stay away from keywords that foster sorry affiliates like 'free' and 'no risk'. Use key words that are consistent with a good work ethic for a theme and portray that all they way through from the landing page, the ad, the keywords, the headline, and the sign up page.

It is simple really. You can chose not to play or to play. That is your choice but if you play you have a chance to win. If you don't play you can not win. The people who work behind the scenes are smart. They want to get as many people actively involved in TripleClicks as they can. That's good for every EA. That's the main reason why you should participate. It is a fun way to boost the Executive Pool.
Online games are very popular. People like playing games to relieve the pressures of everyday work. But when you mix it up like TripleClicks does, you can make good money have decent fun. There is nothing sinister about that. So have fun, enjoy the games and even if you don't get a prize you can relieve some stress.

What encouragement can I give to an affiliate who feels he or she is getting nowhere with SFI?

When an affiliate feels that he or she is getting nowhere in SFI the first thing you should address are their daily habits. Try to find out how much time has the affiliated committed to building a reliable business. Usually you will get these types of complaints from affiliates who have not done very much at all.
It this case, you as a sponsor should set a realistic expectation for these affiliates to look toward. Tell them your own personalized story in short. Tell them what gave you the drive to do more than just log in and collect 11 VP. Many times you can open their eyes to a more realistic view of the business as they may have genuinely had good intentions but didn't understand how to execute them.
Similarly, you want to observe the routine of the affiliate. This can be done by review their profile from the genealogy tool. Click the name link of any affiliate in your downline and you can see a snapshot of how serious they are about the business. Are they recruiting at least 30 affiliates every 30 days? Are they logging in and participating in Pricebender auctions? Are they buying/selling TripleClicks merchandise? All of this and more is available right from the snapshot.
Moreover you can explain to your affiliates that you can provide extra help along the way of progress. Too many affiliates expect their sponsors to just give them a gift certificate or TCredits and this is NOT a given. If you are an over-the-top affiliate, I have NO problem awarding any or all of the above but I am NOT obligated to do this. I promote for all of my EAs and TLs get extra promotion for FREE to reward them for their achievements. We also have co-ops and competitions from time to time so that affiliates can gain momentum sooner rather than later.
Finally, always remind them of the why. Remind them of what SFI offers and ask them to remind themselves of the alternative. If they have a better solution that what SFI offers great. But if not, then they have to invest in the 2 to 5 year plan and serious work at the business. Yes, tell them how long you took to achieve momentum and let them know that if you quit you will not succeed at your SFI goals. They must stay for the duration and work with faith, persistence, and patience to reap the rewards that are certain to come. It is all a matter of time and commitment.

The best way to handle affiliates who want to get rich fast is to ask them how do the plan to achieve it? If they can give you a written explanation that makes sense, then encourage them and follow it! But if they can not, then follow up and let them know how you approach the business. Give them 3 goals to shoot for and tell them exactly how they can achieve each one. This is called setting the expectation.
Can one become rich in SFI? Certainly, but will it happen quickly? Most likely not, and even if it did it would take a considerable amount of cash to pay for the advertising. That said, if an experience marketer with a large following comes to SFI, yes, then it is high likely that they can achieve a 6 figure income in a short period of time. The compensation plan is straight forward. The numbers don't lie. For example, a major player in internet marketing could have a 300,000 member following. Let's say 2% of them subscribe to the IAHBE. That would yield a residual income of $46,020 in the first month of SFI! That's why it's important to recruit everyday and as many as possible! So given the right conditions, one may become very successful in SFI rather quickly. Nevertheless, for most of us, it will take time and a lot of hard work.

Not good at talking to people? Just use the marketing flyers, e-cards, t-cards, x-cards, etc and let them do the talking for you! Giftcards are perfect for this. Just hand them to anyone and tell them:
"Here's a card that I'd like to share with you - no strings attached. Would you mind checking this out?" If they take it, they are 80 to 100% committed to checking it out! Some may try to drill you but if they do simply tell them this:
"I know that you might have some questions but really everything is self-explanatory & easy to follow. Thanks for checking out the site and then if you have questions let me know."
Show them your contact info and be on your way. Then longer you stand and "tango" with them then; you've committed yourself to talking to them longer than you are willing too! Smile, you can do it if you try.

Tell them that you understand and you hope they have success where ever they choose to go. This is business and in business you will need to invest time and money wisely. For the first few years most traditional businesses are in the red. The internet has change this for online businesses. It does not take as long to be in the black but you may find that you need to beef up your skills. This will require an opportunity cost of time. If you are not able to spend time then you may need to leverage some capital to set up advertising that you don't have the time to learn how to do for yourself.
If you are willing to sit it out for a number of years, while you overcome the learning curb that's cool but if not be ready to absorb calculated risks. Anytime the rewards are outweighed by the risks it's worth the wait. But when you are bankrupt - you are out of business. It happens. So wish them well and keep moving toward your goals. If they reach out to you for recommendations that they are willing to follow then advise them to curb their expenses and stick to a strict budget. Set time and money aside and build slowly over time. Never advise people to spend money they don't have or to go deeper into the abyss. If they will accept your advice offer them some tips that you follow to minimize risks.

I need a mentor. What's the best way to find a mentor for SFI?

You have a mentor. That person is your sponsor. If they are not responsive because of some barrier or lack of knowledge, then you can contact your upline. There is always the support and the forum.
Every new affiliate is overcome with immensity of the SFI affiliate center. There are hundreds of links and pages of information. So it is understandable that newbies especially feel that they need someone to mentor them. I felt like that when I joined SFI.
So if your upline is not responsive, it simply means that they want you to learn how to walk on your own. They don't want to provide you crutches when they know that you don't need them. I personally don't agree with total silence but I see why some do. Therefore if you feel that you need a mentor, what I would do is contact the top sponsor in my country or better yet in your city if you happen to be able to discover that their is a team leader in SFI in your home town!
Nevertheless, I'd befriend a top sponsor and learn from them. I'd listen to their recommendations and execute them with due diligence. If you show yourself to be a leader then you will find that you will get all of the support you need. But if you are just looking for a crutch then it will become obvious and you will not be successful.

Winning Pricebender auctions boil down to planning and patience. If you want to participant in an auction be sure to do your homework for that type of auction and that time of day. I good to know what the item has sold for on previous auctions. Find a mean average and use that as a guide to stack up on some TCredits.
However, you have to have a limit for the credits that you will spend and the time you spend. Auctions can be fun and profitable but don't get overwhelmed in an auction and lose you shirt because you will if you do. Practice the recommend rules. To become a successful ECA, you must understand your product and your market. The best approach to being a successful ECA is to match the product to the needs (and pockets ;)) of your market. Too many ECAs fall in love with a product this is obsolete! Who cares if 'beanie babies' are your favorite. . . what really matters is does your market love 'beanie babies'! If they do then great but how do you find out?
Well, you survey your market. Ask them what they need and what they are reasonably willing to pay for it. Now that doesn't mean that you are going to 'low ball' the competition and kill your business profits. But what it does mean is that you are going to do everything that you can as a merchant to keep cost low and pass some savings to your market. That's being a smart ECA and it will make you a successful ECA as well.

Check the bottom line. Did you spend $500 to make $50? I don't think so! Examine the compensation plan and play accordingly as it fits into your planned budget and goals. Expect a profit. If you are losing money on the auctions how is that helping your business? If you lose money playing Eager Zebra games , how is that helping your business?
However, if you study the Eager Zebra games and win unlimited TCredits, you can leverage those TCredits to win more TCredits until you have a plethora of TCredits. Then you can use those TCredits wisely to win merchandise that you can sell at a profit. This would allow you to have a profit margin from your activity. Thus neither is any better than the other per se. Use them accordingly to make your business profitable. That's the bottom line.
