Perhaps it is a matter of how you use the language and your intention is not accurately portrayed by your choice of words.
But based on your question I believe that you must alter your attitude towards your PSA's and CSA's!
They are our associates not our employees or possessions!
Do you criticize your friends and family? Or. do you give them friendly advice and tips based on your experience and research?
Terms such as: "I have found success doing...."
or
"Have you thought of trying it this way?"
or
"I am having some difficulties achieving this goal, how would you approach this task?"
or even
"Where are we in terms of our goals and plans to get there?"
or " I am always here to help you succeed on your terms"
will guide you to the right response or question every time!
We have the responsibility and opportunity to act as guides and mentors maybe for the first time in our lives! Read, learn, absorb, try, refine, try again, repeat as necessary and show by your actions and attitudes that you are always ready to go that extra mile. Without judgement, with no regrets, with an eye to success for each member of your team, remembering that each of us is doing the best we can with what we have and what we know!
