This is a very interesting questions, and there is more than one answer to it. I would say - it depends on many things.
Firstly, a good sponsor / co-sponsor can be most helpful in the beginning, during the first or second month in SFI. Their support and guidance can save you time and energy if they direct you to all the actions you should do. Secondly, it is encouraging if your sponsor / co-sponsor praise your early efforts and achievements. Simple messages, such as "Congratulations!" or "Well done!" mean a lot to a beginner, they can show you that you are on the right way to make a success in this business.
On the other hand, SFI has all the materials prepared for a person determined to do this business. If a person wants to work, he/she will work, with or without a sponsor. Launchpad lessons explain what needs to be done step by step. There are marketing aids and methods prepared and explained, there is VPLedger to track points, and Forum where answers for virtually any possible question can be found.
In conclusion, I can say this: it is important to have a good sponsor and co-sponsor, but they are not a must - the whole SFI community acts as a sponsor for someone who is willing to learn and work.

How do you get your affiliates to approach their SFI business realistically, like a real business, and not some get unrealistic rich quick scheme?

The first thing you should do is that you convince them that SFI business IS a real business. If they think they can get rich in no time and without any effort, they will give up quickly, and you will lose them forever.
What I do when I contact my affiliates is the following:
1. Tell them it will take time to accumulate profit. Business needs time to expand. The same goes with SFI business.
2. Tell them to read and learn. The more they read, the more they will know. One idea leads to another - most people who join SFI are unaware of possibilities it offers.
3. Encourage them to open their store at TripleClicks and visit and update it regularly.
4. Encourage them to visit forums, learn about duplication, contact other affiliates. Different people have different business ideas, so there is always a chance they will realize that a real approach to SFI business is the only one that leads to success.
Be persistent in persuading your affiliates that SFI is a place where they can both learn about business and apply what they have learned. Be prepared that some of them might not understand you. Focus on those who are following you.

What should an affiliate do if their sponsor is non-responsive?

A sponsor is a real person, and an affiliate has to understand that, if he/she is non-responsive, something may have happened to him/her. There is the section "My Upline Support Team" to refer to in case the sponsor cannot be contacted.
In any case, if the sponsor is non-responsive, an affiliate should do the following:
1. Visit SFI regularly and complete to-do list;
2. Go to SFI LAUNCHPAD and revise marketing lessons on a regular basis;
3. Check VP ledger to make sure not to miss any points which would lead to maintaining the status;
4. Read, read, read. Read everything in training section, especially "Ask Gery" section. There are answers to all questions an affiliate may ask.
5. Visit forums and contact a2a friends. The more people we ask, the more answers and help we will get.
Remember, success does not depend on sponsors, but on how much we invest in ourselves and our business.

This is a really good question.
I strongly believe that everybody should open an ECA store at TripleClicks, because this is what makes this business great. Affiliates can offer their products or services (if they have any) or simply organize an online sale of things they have, but do not need (a kind of a sale) and thus take advantage of possibility to open and online store for free, which is really great.
When I opened my ECA, my first thought was simple - to earn more VersaPoints. I think that I didn't quite realize the real benefit of it. Since I do not produce anything, I offered my services, and for months I have not had any customers. But then the situation changed suddenly, now I have my clients who regularly buy what I can offer. It was a great feeling to see that I was able to pay some of my orders using the money I earned thanks to my ECA store.
Therefore my answer is - yes, opening an ECA is what an affiliate should do as soon as possible. It is good for SFI and TripleClicks to have more customers; it is good for an ECA owner to have his or her own business. And this is exactly what I suggest my downline - to open an ECA, carefully list products and services and be patient. Sooner or later, they will have their customers.

If you already have your five future PTLs identified (per THE PLAN), should you keep developing more first-level stars?

This is a very interesting and intriguing question. I admit that I haven't succeeded in developing that many leaders at the same time because they keep coming and going, but I strongly believe that if I had five identified PTLs, I would certainly try to do my best and find and help as many leaders as possible. Why? Well, I believe that any person who wants to make a success in this business should always try to do it following the Olympic motto - Citius - Altius - Fortius - meaning Faster - Higher - Stronger.
There is no limit, and there should be no limit in the number of PSAs who achieve their goal and become leaders themselves. PSAs who become Bronze Team Leaders usually stay in this business, they have their own ways and the only thing their sponsor should to is keep monitoring them. Occasional pieces of advice and praise when they confirm their status are usually everything their need from their sponsors. In that sense, why should a sponsor stop developing and expanding his or her business?
I admit that developing and maintaining numerous team is time-consuming. However, I think we should all follow the example of the founder of SFI - if Mr. Carson finds time to monitor his business, develop it, and to visit the forum regularly, we should do the same - be here and develop our business as well. Therefore, don't stop at five; don't stop at fifty-five. This may be the number of families saved from unemployment. And this is what makes our business so precious.

How can you determine what TripleClicks product(s) a person might be interested in?

This is a really good question.
Advertising TripleClicks products is an excellent way of accumulating income, if you know where and what to advertise. As for myself, I started by examining offers posted by others on Facebook - it was an easy way to see what kind of products attracted people to leave their comments. After a while, I have decided to advertise the following:
a) products that can be great gifts (Christmas gifts, birthday presents or given for Valentine's Day)
b) products that include free shipping - for customers in Europe, for example, this is one of the most appealing things to decide what to buy
c) "universal" products, something that is always admired, such as jewellery for women, or gadgets for men.
Of course, when you have to make the final decision, always bear in mind who you are selling a particular product to, and you will be happy with the result.

How often should I communicate with my Sponsor and Co-Sponsor?

I think that you should communicate with your Sponsor and Co-Sponsor very often, whenever you come across an issue you do not understand or which is in any way unclear to you.
Remember, both of them are here to offer you their unlimited support, do not hesitate to turn to them if there is anything that bothers you. Although SFI itself provides excellent reading material on literally every issue possible, there are still many things concerning everyday actions that may be of use to you, and which you have not mastered yet.
There are actually many practical things your Sponsor or Co-Sponsor may do to help you start treating SFI as a real business, since they, if they are successful, are actually setting a role-model for you. It will be easier for you to simply follow their steps.
In conclusion - do not hesitate to communicate with your Sponsor or Co-Sponsor, your communication will be beneficial to you all.

Linkedin and similar social sites all function on the basis of connecting people from all over the world who share the same interests, ideas, or are in the same or similar business. Therefore, if you list SFI as a company in which or for which you work stating online sale or affiliate marketing as a branch of business, it will automatically draw attention to your profile. It may happen to you (as it has happened to me several times upon listing 'affiliate marketing' as my field of interest) to receive messages from people from different countries asking you questions about SFI and your business.
In fact, thanks to Linkedin, I have got one of my most active PSAs from another country. People who connect to you and your business through Linkedin and similar sites are more likely to become active members because they are more serious about this kind of business and they can immediately perceive the benefits this business offers to its affiliates. All in all, my answer would be that Linkedin can help you more than you can imagine.

Should I promote participation in Pricebenders to my team? If so, for what reason(s)?

I strongly suggest all members of my team to participate in Pricebenders auctions. There are several reasons for that:
- each bid costs only one TCredit, and you get 1 action point + 5 MRPs (or even 10 MRPs in Double MRP auctions)
- you can use those MRPs to buy TCredits, for example 1 TC costs only 126 MRP, and SFI Affiliates also earn 102.00 VP with each purchase.
- if you are lucky, you can win the product you have bid for, and if the chosen one is PSA or CSA, it will help you build your own team. If you win anything, you will get your own shout prepared for you to help you advertise your business on social networks.

How can I motivate and inspire my team using my SFI Leadership Page?

SFI Leadership Page is a great place to direct members of your team and motivate them with inspirational posts. The first thing they see is your picture and your message. Be careful about choosing both of them - these two will present your attitude towards this business. Do not hesitate to change either of them it you think you can present a better picture or a message which is more motivating than a previous one. If English is not your mother tongue, make sure you prepare a good translation of the message you want to present.
The second thing you have to be very careful about is your blog. Make sure you fill it with useful things, such as directions what to do during the first, second and third month in SFI, because these three are crucial for anybody who has just become a part of this company. Pay attention to the fact that what you write in your blog has to be in line with the badges you own - you cannot urge your team to have a Standing Order unless you have one, and this can be seen among your badges. If you are not sure what to write about, go to Leadership Pages of your upline and see what they have written. Pay attention to updates - an active leader will update his or her leadership page from time to time. Copy and paste inspirational texts you find on the Internet, but always name the author - this will show your team that it is very important to read and learn.
The last, but not least - pay special attention to the part "I recommend". List all products and services you think will be useful to your team. Do not do it haphazardly - be prepared for additional explanation. Members of your team must be sure you know why you recommend these particular products and services.
If used in a proper way, your Leadership Page will present you and your business in the best possible way.
